My Story

I’m a visual artist residing in Cape Town, South Africa. Since childhood, I have had a deep passion for art-making and expressing myself visually. Much of my childhood and youth were spent drawing, painting and experimenting with different media to depict my surroundings, the details and the colours around me.

Whilst at school I attended the Peter Clarke Art Centre and was awarded a 100% for my final Grade 12 painting exhibition. In 2006 I received a scholarship to study at the Michaelis School of Fine Art in Cape Town (UCT). Having a fascination for different cultures, I then went on to study Social Anthropology and Development Studies up to Masters level. After my studies I travelled extensively and led the Art department at an International School in Vietnam for five years. Those years abroad allowed me to explore much of SouthEast Asia and provided me with new insights and valuable inspiration.

Whilst teaching Art, I rediscovered my love for painting and created a series of works inspired by my experiences of the scenery, the people and the way of life in Vietnam.

After living abroad for nearly 7 years, in 2021 I returned home to Cape Town to continue working as an artist and an art educator. I became fascinated by the quiet spaces, the golden light and the ethereal colours that surround us and developed a series of oil paintings that celebrate places of nostalgia and sanctuary. At times, you can see glimpses of the tropics and inspiration from my travels in my work. I hope that through my art I can transport the viewer into an enchanted, ethereal and almost otherworldly setting.
